Rochelle Canteen to open at The ICA
On Wednesday 4 October we're opening Rochelle Bar & Canteen at The Institute of Contemporary Arts on The Mall, which we're thrilled about, and we'd love you all to come along and see our new (second) home. We'll be doing a very gentle opening for the first week while we settle in and will be fully up and running from Tuesday 10 October.
The ICA opened in 1947, a space for artists, writers and scientists to debate new ideas. In 2017 Stefan Kalmár of Artists Space, New York took over as director with an exciting new programme of exhibitions, films, talks and events starting at the beginning of October. The building is being stripped back to its former modernist simplicity, with our new bar and canteen to complement it.
Rochelle Bar & Canteen will include a daily changing menu reflective of our honest, classic cooking style. The ICA also has two beautiful rooms upstairs overlooking The Mall available to book for events.
Ben Coombs, who's previously worked for us at the Canteen and on our events as well as at The Beagle & Le Coq, will be head chef, while Fin Spiteri (Quo Vadis, Trullo, Flat Iron Square) is designing our drinks list and will be in overall charge of the bar and front of house.
